Clyde River, Nunavut

Client: Government of Nunavut, Environment Canada, with the Hamlet of Clyde River

Their Vision: Clyde River and the Government of Nunavut have been working together on a proposed territorial park. They required expertise to develop a cultural landscape resources report.

Our Insight: The team did an extensive resources inventory, incorporating local knowledge and wisdom, and included recommendations on how to plan and manage the proposed park.

The Result: The final report reflected the cultural landscape resources of specific importance to the Inuit residents of Clyde River. The strategy and recommendations outlined the definitions and terms; described the steps in the resource inventory process; identified assessment and evaluation criteria; and proposed uses of the inventory for future planning and management decision making. The resource inventory was designed to include templates for GIS mapping and database components that could be updated by the community with minimal outside expertise.
